Thanks to the great success of David Russell’s masterclass in
Pordenone in 1996 and the International Guitar Festival of Friuli Venezia
Giulia, organized by the Farandola Cultural Association in Pordenone,
the “Francisco Tárrega” Giutar Academy was born.
The growing interest in this initiative as well as the excellent work
carried out by the Academy’s teachers has given rise to the most
renowned guitar centre in North East Italy; every year it sees the presence
of students from various Italian cities such as Taranto, Brindisi, Padova,
Trieste, Treviso, Udine, etc. and from abroad: Slovenia, Spain, Mexico,
the Ucraine, Poland and Russia.
The Academy’s students have won dozens of prizes in both national
and international competitions and the number of artists, from both Europe
and South America, invited to perform increases year by year.
The Academy’s links with various musical institutions enables its
students to gain concert experience, which is essential for complete
professional training.
